European Surfing Federation Tour 2013 Update

Dear friends,

The European Surfing Federation was established in 1971 and has since delivered European Surfing Titles.

Recently and under its Technical Director Rui Felix influence, the European Tour of Bodyboard and Longboard was created to help those sports to emerge. World Champions Antoine Delpero in Longboard and Pierre Louis Costes in Bodyboard were more than happy to compete.

The good sport spirit and prize money have been the keys to success for those two European Tours.

Organizers benefit from reasonable logistical costs which make 90% of the events secure for the long term.

After looking at the situation within the professional side of surfing in Europe and the International economic situation, the Executive Committee of the European Surfing Federation decided to start up a European Tour of Surfing. This will give the opportunity for competitive surfers to win prize money and a European title.

This first year will see three events: Viana do Castelo Portugal 9/10/11/08/2013 Bouznika Morocco 22/23/24/11/2013 Presqu ile de Quiberon France 6/7/8/12/2013

Obviously this is a start but, in the words of Fernando Aguerre, President of the International Surfing Association “a small flower will become a strong tree”. Welcome to all participants at these three events.

Thank you Portugal, Morocco and France for their belief and support for this new European Tour under the European Surfing Federation authority .

Yours sincerely, Keep Surfing.

European Federation debuts ESF in Viana as a launch pad for high level european surfing

The European Surfing Federation opens a new chapter in it's activities as a promoter in wave sports by launching the new ETS (European Tour of Surfing) that is thought up to emulate the success of the Longboard (ETL) and Bodyboard (ETB) in the development in European talents in wave sports, with it's maiden stage to take place in Portugal, more specifically in Viana do Castelo, in the North of the country from the 9th to the 11th of August.

The ETS will then follow to Morocco, in November and Reach it's conclusion in France, in December (detailed calendar is in attachment).

As the ESF president, Xavier Delanne puts it: "Recently, and under its Technical Director Rui Félix influence, the European Tours of Bodyboard and Longboard were created to help those sports to emerge. The good sporting spirit and interesting prize money have been the success for those two European Tours. "

The concept behind this tour is to involve some upcoming talents without being too expensive, for the athletes and for the local organizations themselves since it will not burden them with costly logistics and travel, which take about 90% of expenses in this kind of event.

The first stage will be webcasted in the ESF new website, predicted to be online in the next couple of weeks.

The prize money for this first stage will be 4000 euros, all event submissions will be taken on the beach (Praia da Arda) until August 8

A Polite Request

To all those attending the Quiksilver Welsh Nationals,

Please do not place your rubbish around the bins (if full) as this encourages vermin as well as local wildlife which results in the rubbish being blown around the car park and surrounding area.

If the bins provided are full please can you ensure that any rubbish you generate whilst at the competition is taken home with you and disposed of accordingly.

Thank you
